• Atherosclerosis

  • Most common etiology
  • Usually located at or near the common bifurcation

• Fibromuscular Dysplasia

  • Females
  • May be associated with renal dysplasia or Intracranial aneurysm

• Carotid Artery Dissection

  • Spontaneous, trauma

• Restenosis

  • Neo-intimal hyperplasia

    • 18-24 months post op
