Magnitude of the Problem
Despite this women were often excluded from many of the early studies concerning the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular diseases
Notes:
Although the seriousness of CAD in women has become apparent as I mention earlier it was not that long ago that people thought only men died from heart disease. As a result when the early studies were designed to evaluate what put people at risk and what helped them survive the majority of the studies were men only.
Although we have learned a tremendous amount about CAD in these earlier studies extrapolating from men to women may be a big leap.
