Thank you all for coming out tonight. For those of you I do not know I,m Karen Lambert one of the cardiologist with West Suburban Cardiology. Tonight’s topic as you all know is women and Heart Disease.

This important to discuss because it was not that long ago that people thought the two never occurred together.

As we will discuss women develop CAD later than men. As a result , in previous decades when life expectancies were much shorter, women died from other causes before they could develop CAD. Therefore CAD was usually thought of as a man’s disease. As you will learn tonight that is very clearly no longer the case.
