Scandinavian Simvastatin Survival Study Group (4S)

• 4444 patients studied

• Patients with angina or previous MI

• Patients with total cholesterol >5.5mmol/L(~213mg/dl)

• Randomized to double blind treatment of either simvastatin or placebo

• Followed over 5 Years

• Total Cholesterol decreased 25%

• LDL decreased 35%

• HDL increased 8%
