Vein Center- Endovascular Laser Therapy
Do you have unsightly “rope-like”, twisted, dark
blue in color veins protruding or bulging from your skin?

You have varicose veins, a condition of venous
insufficiency.
What can you do about it?
Endovenous laser therapy offers a non-surgical way to get your legs
back to looking and feeling great.
What is Vein Disease?
Veins are blood vessels that return blood to the heart from the body.
Veins have valves that control the flow of blood. When these valves
fail to function or the vein is damaged from stretching, the valves do
not properly control the flow of blood, resulting in varicose veins.

What are Varicose Veins?
Varicose veins are a condition of venous insufficiency which can be
caused by pregnancy, heredity, or age. Rope-like, twisted, dark blue
in color veins are the result of valves not functioning correctly. This
can easily be fixed in a non-surgical procedure.
What Happens if Varicose Veins Aren’t Treated?
Varicose veins worsen over time. This can lead to increased pain,
limitations walking, cramps, ulcerations, open sores, blood clots, and
tissue loss.
What is Endovenous Laser Therapy?
A non-surgical procedure to deliver laser energy that causes the
vein to close. The procedure takes less than one hour. Ask your
physician for more information.
Is the procedure painful?
Although some individual responses vary, most people report little to
no pain. After the procedure you may feel some tenderness, tingling,
itching, or tightness in the treated leg. This should disappear within
two weeks.
What should i do after the procedure?
After endovenous laser therapy, a gauze pad and tape will be placed
over the puncture site and a compression stocking bandage will
be placed on your leg. You are encouraged to immediately walk
following the procedure and resume normal activities. However,
during the two weeks following your procedure you should avoid
swimming, vigorous gym workouts, hot baths, or excessive sun.
Your physician will provide customized instructions for you
following your endovenous laser therapy, including how long to
wear a compression stocking. If you have any further questions,
please ask your physician.
What should i expect after the procedure?
You should expect to see some bruising along the treatment site
as the vein disappears, which is normal and should gradually go
away within a month. You also may feel some tenderness, tingling,
itching, or tightness in your treated leg during the two weeks
following your procedure. If you experience significant pain, or
have bleeding of the treated leg, contact our office immediately.
